Self-hosted visual website builder for Next.js. You keep the database and the host.
by Chai Builder
ChaiBuilder is a visual page builder you install into your own Next.js app rather than a hosted site builder you rent. The CLI (npx chaibuilder-app create) scaffolds Next.js plus Payload CMS, points at Postgres or SQLite you provide, and the canvas, theme tokens, media library, multilingual content, revisions, and one-click publish all run on that stack. Pages render with SSG + ISR.
The pitch on the site is ownership: content lives in your database, there is no vendor-hosted runtime for the published site, and licenses differ by domains and branding, not by feature flags. An in-builder chat panel edits sections, SEO, and theme in plain language. Developers can override routing, add blocks, or swap the CMS.
GitHub chaibuilder/sdk redirects to chaibuilder/core (TypeScript, Tailwind, React, 475 stars on this check, BSD-3-Clause). The marketing site is the live product URL; chaibuilder.com 301s to www.chaibuilder.com.
List the core as open-source builder infrastructure. The commercial license is how they sell domains and white-label, not the only way to read the SDK.
